SHERIFF OVERTON REMINDS RESIDENTS, DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE DURING THE HOLIDAYS
Today, Sheriff Bill Overton gave a special message concerning drunk/buzzed drivers in Franklin County. Sheriff Overton said, "This recent Christmas break and our upcoming New Year's holiday, statistically shows higher percentages of impaired drivers on our highways. The Office of the Sheriff is always in alert mode from these dangerous drivers, but we are more intent during these peak times. My wish is for our residents to be aware, our goal is focused on public safety. Please, DO NOT drink alcohol and get on the highway. Plan for a Designated Driver, stay overnight where you are (if possible) or just don't drink at all. Our desire is for everyone to return home safely."

Franklin County Sheriff Bill Overton stated, "We honor all of our service men and women who have protected us and our freedoms both at home and abroad. Whereas Memorial Day is a moment to reflect on those that gave their lives for our country, Veteran's Day gives us the wonderful pleaesure to shake the hand of a service veteran who is still with us, and who we can express our deepest gratitude. To all veterans and especially those in Franklin County, I salute you."
