The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for our area from around noon on Sunday, April 15th until midnight. A strong cold front is approaching our area from the west and will pass thur our region tonight. With the rain, there will also be high winds and powerful gusts. As with storms of this nature, there could be potential small stream flooding, flying debris and downed power lines. Officers of the Franklin County Sheriff's Office conducted a drug interdiction in the Sago, Snow Creek, Doe Run and other areas on April 6, 2018. Weather cut short the planned duration, but a total of 31 stops were made. Most arrests were for possession of marijuana and two underage possession of alcohol charges were placed. Summonses were issued where allowed and 14 vehicle searches were conducted. Thanks to our Narcotics Units and other officers that participated in the interdiction.
Franklin County Sheriff's Office announces their Spring 2018 DEA Prescription Drug Take Back. On Saturday, April 28th from 10AM - 2PM , FCSO will be stationed at TWO locations. Westlake Sheriff's Office Sub-Station and Ferrum College Police Department. Also, Rocky Mount Town Police will be at the local WalMart location. The purpose of these prescription drug take back events is to remove unused and outdated medications from homes and offer a safe disposal. Officers will be at both locations and will offer a take home disposal kit to safely neutralize medications after our event.
March 24th around 9:45 PM, our Night Shift Units are reporting Franklin County roads are getting worse with this lastest round of snow. While higher snow totals are accumulating to the west of Rocky Mount, ALL ROADS are bad now and due to get worse throughout the night. Please don't drive unless it is an emargency. Our local weather media is advising roadways should improve by Sunday afternoon, they are becoming treacherous tonight.
