SHERIFF OVERTON ENCOURAGES DRIVERS TO STOP TEXTING WHILE DRIVING
"Distracted driving is a problem to all who are on our highways and texting while driving is one a the most dangerous." Sheriff Bill Overton said today. "Please, STOP texting while driving, the Office of the Sheriff wants everyone to return home safe to your families."

On January 18th, The Office of The Sheriff conducted a drug interdiction in various areas of Franklin County. As a result, 10 drug related charges were placed that included 4 felonies and 6 misdemeanors. One charge was assualt on a law enforcement officer. The Narcotics Unit of the Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate charges as they relate to this event.

SHERIFF ANNOUNCES 2018 CRASE EVENT
Franklin County Sheriff's Office offers a CRASE Event on February 15, 2018; CRASE (Citizen's Response to An Active Shooter Event) will be held at the Franklin Center, 50 Claiborne Avenue in Rocky Mount. Overwhelming response was received by our first class in late 2017, so this will be our first scheduled training in 2018. Meeting will be from 6PM-8PM and is FREE to the public. Seating is limited and this event is FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. Pre-register can only be made by calling 540-483-0179 (Franklin Center)
