Update 11/14/19, 9:30 AM: On Sunday evening, 11/12/19, the US Marshals received information that Michael Alexander Brown may be operating a recreational vehicle (RV) and pulling an enclosed trailer in the area of Clarendon County, SC.  Later that evening, agents observed an enclosed trailer abandoned on the side of the road on Governor Richardson Rd in Clarendon County. Closer inspection of the trailer revealed the 2008 black Lincoln Town Car inside. Investigators secured the vehicle and obtained a search warrant. On 11/14/19 shortly after midnight, officers located the recreational vehicle in Roanoke, VA. The search for Michael Brown is now focused in and around the City of Roanoke, VA. Anyone with information involving the location of Michael Brown is urged to call the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office at 540-352-5139. The public is still urged to use extreme caution if contact is made with Michael Brown as he is still considered armed and dangerous.

Update 11/12/19, 10:00 AM: The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is working closely with numerous agencies in Virginia and North Carolina in the ongoing search for murder suspect Michael Alexander Brown. Those agencies include; U.S. Marshals, FBI, and NCIS as well as numerous other local agencies. Although the focus is currently in Virginia and North Carolina this is a nationwide search. Brown could be on the move and the search could expand as evidence and tips continue to come in. On the day of the murder, November 9th, Brown was seen in the 2008 black Lincoln Town Car at a local store in Franklin County, VA. Numerous interviews have been conducted with neighbors, family, friends and acquaintances and tips are being followed up on as they come in. Anyone with any information on the location of Michael Alexander Brown is urged to contact the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office at 540-352-5139. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is also urging Michael to turn himself in to local law enforcement or contact the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office at the number listed to arrange to safely turn himself in. The public is reminded to use extreme caution if contact is made with Michael Brown and notify law enforcement immediately.

 Update 11/11/19, 10:00 AM: On 11/11/19, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office obtained an arrest warrant for second degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony for Michael Alexander Brown in connection to the homicide of Rodney Brown on 11/9/19. Charges may be modified as additional evidence is received and evaluated. The public is urged to use extreme caution if contact is made with Michael Brown as he is considered armed and dangerous. Any contact with Brown should be reported to law enforcement immediately. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office at 540-352-5139.

Update 11/10/19, 1:00 PM: On 11/9/19 just before noon, Rodney Brown was shot and killed at his residence on Woodthrush Cir. in Hardy, VA. The suspect is Michael Alexander Brown, the son of Rodney Brown’s live in girlfriend. It is currently unclear why Michael would have killed Rodney. Michael is a former Marine and was last stationed at Camp Lejeune in NC. Around October 18, 2019, Michael deserted his post at Camp Lejeune where he served as a combat engineer. He has been seen in and around Franklin County in the past two weeks. It is unknown where Michael may be headed or where he has been staying since leaving his post. He has been known to live in the woods and frequent National Parks and National Forest. He is believed to be armed with a high-powered rifle and may have access to other weapons. Anyone having contact with Michael Brown should use extreme caution and contact law enforcement immediately. He has recently been driving a 2008 black Lincoln Town Car with a possible NC license plate, EHP-4877. Anyone with information on this homicide or the location of Michael Alexander Brown is urged to contact Sgt. Nolen at 540-483-6662.

Update 11/9/19, 10:08 PM: Please be advised that the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has received additional information that indicates Michael Brown is no longer operating the white Cadillac. New information obtained this evening is that he parked the white vehicle a while back and may possibly be operating a black 2008 Lincoln Town Car. Please be advised that the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has received additional information that indicates Michael Brown is no longer operating the white Cadillac.
