Local Board of Building Code Appeals

Purpose

Any person aggrieved by the local building department’s application of the Uniform Statewide Building Code (USBC) or the refusal to grant a modification to the provisions of the USBC may appeal to the Local Board of Building Code Appeals (LBBCA). The LBBCA shall have the power to uphold, reverse, or modify the decision of the official by concurring vote of a majority of those present on the LBBCA.

To read more about the Local Board of Building Code Appeals rules, regulations, and procedures, please view Section 119: Appeals.

Current codes and regulations can be viewed at the Virginia Building & Code Officials Association webpage.
