VIRGINIA'S MOVE OVER LAW IS IMPORTANT

car

Recently a Bedford County Deputy Sheriff was out of his vehicle on Rt. 460 working another call when a motorist slammed into the rear of his patrol car.

It is a reminder how important for all of us to be aware when driving and obey Virginia’s Move Over Law. The Move Over Law is a law which requires motorists to move over and change lanes to give safe clearance to law enforcement officers, firefighters, ambulances, utility workers, and in some cases, tow-truck drivers and disabled vehicles.

See video link below

You can find the entire Move Over Law in the Code of Virginia 46.2-861.1

We are very grateful Bedford County Deputy Sheriff Bryan Ellis was uninjured and hope the other driver is doing well also.

Please be alert when on the highways and let’s come home safe to our families each day.
