Each year the Office of the Sheriff looks forward to our annual Operation Christmas Joy event to provide assistance for families at Christmas. This year is the 6th consecutive year for this program, which began with selling Christmas trees to financially support the cause. Over the last few years, it became apparent that the Christmas tree business was struggling, and we would need to change the course of action for this event to continue. In 2020, we approached many churches and businesses in Franklin County to ask for assistance. As expected, Franklin County pulled together to provide for an amazing event, even in the middle of a pandemic!
This year, the Office of the Sheriff was able to partner with over 40 businesses, churches, organizations, and individuals to make this year’s Operation Christmas Joy larger than previous years, almost doubling the number of families. With the amazing help and contributions from our partners, we are able to provide Christmas Joy for 37 families, which includes 121 children. The packages delivered today include food for the entire family for three hot meals, plus clothing and toys for all of the children.
We would like to thank all of those who have partnered with us to provide such a blessing to these families. Without the collective contributions, both large and small, this event would not be able to be as successful as it is!
