The FBI Charlotte North Carolina Division is warning businesses about a fraud scheme with victims in several Southeastern states including Virginia.
In the scheme, fraudsters use stolen credit card numbers to make large purchases over the phone. So far, more than 100 businesses have been targeted.
In Franklin County, the Office of the Sheriff has identified several local companies in which this has occurred.
The Franklin County Sheriff's Office and the FBI are working on these cases and are asking the public and businesses to be alert.
