The Office of the Sheriff recently presented Deputy Powell with not one, but TWO, Shining Star awards! The first one was for his compassion and professionalism shown to family during a death of their loved one. The family contacted our office after the incident and expressed their gratitude. The second award was for his dedication and attention to detail on a call at Smith Mountain Lake where boating equipment was missing, but was soon
located and returned to the owners.
